BP Canada Energy Company

BP Sarnia is a large natural gas liquids fractionation plant, products include propane, isobutane and normal butane.


Cabot Canada Ltd.

Cabot Canada manufactures carbon black. Carbon black is a form of elemental carbon, which is manufactured, in a highly controlled process to produce particles and aggregates of varied structure and surface chemistry. The resulting products possess many different performance characteristics for a wide variety of applications that are marketed domestically and globally. The primary use for carbon black is in the tire industry where it is used as a rubber-reinforcing agent to enhance a tire's performance, quality and durability.


Canada Commercial Services L.P.


The Modified Polymers Business Unit produces reactive polymers. It serves the packaging market with co-extrudable adhesives and industrial markets with metal coatings for corrosion protection, tougheners and compatibilizers to name just a few end-use applications.


Clean Harbors Canada, Inc.


Clean Harbor's Lambton Facility is Ontario's only permitted hazardous waste management complex. On-site services include a high-temperature incinerator, a secure chemical landfill, an analytical laboratory and a specialized transportation fleet.


Ethyl Canada Inc.


Ethyl Canada Inc. produces fuel and lubricant additives, antioxidants and catalysts. Fuel additives improve the efficiency of engines and reduce emissions. Ethyl lubricant additives extend the life of transmissions, gears and engines.


H.C. Starck


H.C. Starck, a division of Bayer Inc., serves international markets through the production of tungsten metal powder, tungsten carbide for the hard metal industry, and nickel hydroxide for the rechargeable battery industry. The facility is registered to both ISO 9001: 2000 and ISO14001: 2004, and operates through an integrated management system.


Imperial Oil Limited


Imperial Oil Limited's Sarnia operations include its most complex oil refinery, Canada's largest petroleum research laboratory, and a world-scale chemical plant and technology facility.


INEOS - NOVA


INEOS NOVA's Sarnia site supplies styrene to INEOS NOVA's polystyrene operations and customers in North America. The Sarnia facility had been operating since 1977. NOVA Chemicals purchased the facility in 1988. In the late 90’s, a significant project to upgrade the facility with new equipment and state-of-the-art technology increased annual production of styrene monomer to approximately 950 million pounds (431 killotonnes). The Sarnia site became part of the INEOS NOVA joint venture on October 1, 2007.

Styrene is the raw material used to manufacture polystyrene, a common plastic used in the manufacture of food containers and utensils, medical devices, toys and compact discs. As a basic petrochemical building block for the plastics, synthetic rubber and latex industries, styrene is used in the manufacture of thousands of other products in the construction, recreation and transportation industries worldwide. The plant has approximately 75 employees. The facility is ISO 9001:2008 registered.


LANXESS Inc.


LANXESS is an international chemical company that manufactures high quality products in the area of chemicals, synthetic rubbers and plastics. LANXESS Inc. Sarnia site is the headquarters for LANXESS in Canada with both a major manufacturing operation and an R&D technology center. Focused on the production of synthetic rubber, this facility is a major supplier to both domestic and international markets and employs over 850 employees.

Above-ground and underground storage tank removal, Sludge dewatering/lagoon cleaning, Mass excavation and transportation of contaminated soils, Hazardous waste management, Waste brokerage services for large scale soil and drilling mud contaminated material, Facility decontamination, dismantling, and demolition/deconstruction (material recovery)


NOVA Chemicals Corporation


NOVA Chemical's Sarnia Site - Using ethylene and benzene from NOVA Chemical's Corunna Plant, Sarnia Site produces 430,000 tonnes per year of styrene monomer for polystyrene plastic producers.

NOVA Chemical Corunna Site - Crude oil, condensates and natural gas liquids are processed to produce primary petrochemicals - ethylene, propylene, butylenes, benzene and toluene. Annual production capacity is 1.3 million tonnes. An additional 1.5 million tonnes of chemical and energy products are also produced at the Corunna plant.

NOVA Chemicals Moore Site - Using ethylene from NOVA Chemical's Corunna site, the Moore plant produces 380,000 tonnes per year total of low and high density polyethylene resin.

NOVA Chemicals St. Clair River Site - Using ethylene from NOVA's Corunna Site, the St. Clair River Plant produces 270,000 tonnes per year of linear (low) and high-density polyethylene resin.


Ontario Power Generation


The Lambton Generating Station is one of Ontario Power Generation's most heavily used coal-fired generating plants because its units are among the cleanest and most efficient. Lambton has four units capable of producing a total of 1975 megawatts of power. Running at full capacity, these units can produce enough power to meet the electricity requirements of up to 1.3 million homes.


PRAXAIR Canada Inc.

 

 

 


Praxair's primary products are: atmospheric gases oxygen, nitrogen, argon and rare gases (produced when air is purified, compressed, cooled, distilled and condensed), and process & specialty gases -- carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen, semiconductor process gases, and acetylene (produced as by-products of chemical production or recovered from natural gas).

SGS Sarnia SGS’s Oil, Gas and Chemicals services is the market leader in providing inspection, laboratory testing and blending services to the oil, gas and chemicals sector. OGC also provides Low Pressure Gas (LPG) quality certification and laboratory outsourcing.


Shell Canada
Limited


Shell's Sarnia Manufacturing Centre is one of three Shell oil refineries in Canada. Shell's Sarnia Manufacturing Centre refines approximately 75,000 barrels of crude oil per day into products such as liquid petroleum gas (LPG), diesel oil, gasoline, furnace oil, jet fuel, and pure chemicals such as benzene, toluene, zylene and hydrocarbon solvents.


Suncor Energy Products Inc.


Suncor's Sarnia refinery has a crude oil capacity of 80,000 barrels per day. The plant produces intermediate feedstocks used in the production of plastics and pharmaceutical products in addition to a variety of fuel products.


Suncor Ethanol

The Suncor St. Clair Ethanol Plant currently produces 400 million litres of ethanol per year. In addition to ethanol, the plant will produce dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS), sources of high protein and high-energy feed for dairy and beef cows, hogs and poultry, as well as carbon dioxide, which is used to freeze foods and produce carbonated beverages and fire extinguishers.


Terra International Canada Inc.


Terra International produces a range of nitrogen products including ammonia, urea and nitrogen solutions. These products are used extensively in industrial and agricultural markets.


TODA Advanced Materials

Toda Advanced Materials Inc. (TAM) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Toda Kogyo Corp. of Hiroshima Japan. TAM is a producer of nickel hydroxide powders for use primarily in the manufacture of rechargeable batteries commonly used in hybrid electric vehicles (HEV's) and electronic equipment including cell phones, computers, and electronic games.


TransAlta Energy Corporation


TransAlta's Sarnia Regional Cogeneration Plant produces steam and electricity for industrial customers in Sarnia, surplus electricity is sold to the Ontario electricity market. The 575 MW plant uses natural gas to fuel gas turbines, which produce electricity. Heat is recovered from the exhaust of the gas turbines to produce steam, which is used in industrial production processes. Surplus steam is also used in a steam turbine to generate additional electricity.
